| George Mimari, MD, General Surgery
Dr. George Mimari grew up in San Antonio, Texas and graduated from the University of Houston in 1968 with Cum Laude honors and a Bachelor’s in Pharmacy. Immediately following, he enrolled at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas and graduated with his Doctorate in Medicine in 1973. He has over 30 years of General Surgery experience.
He completed his internship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania followed by his residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center where he served as Chief Resident in Surgery (1977-78).
Dr. Mimari is a Diplomate of and is certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is on the medical staff of Foundation Surgical Hospital of San Antonio. Dr. Mimari has also served on the medical staff of South Texas Methodist Hospital, St. Luke’s Baptist Hospital, Santa Rosa Northwest Hospital and Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital – all of San Antonio, Texas. He also serves as Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center, University Hospital and Audie Murphy VA Hospital – all of San Antonio, Texas.
In 1988, he served as Chief of Staff at St. Luke’s Baptist Hospital which was precluded by a Chief of Surgery appointment also at St. Luke’s in 1984-85. Most recently, Dr. Mimari was Chief of Surgery at Methodist Hospital from 1996-97.
Dr. Mimari is professionally affiliated with the Bexar County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, American Medical Association, San Antonio Surgical Society, General Surgery Society of San Antonio, Fellow of American College of Surgeons, J. Bradley Aust Surgical Society and Texas Surgical Society.
