Michael L. Murphy, M.D., Pain Medicine

 

Dr. Michael Murphy has 17 years experience in Pain Management and serves on many boards in San Antonio. He is also a founder and Medical Director of several ambulatory surgery centers.

Dr. Murphy graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in pre-pharmacy, and attended the UT College of Pharmacy. He received his Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in 1983 and completed his internship at the UT Medical School, Department of Internal Medicine. Dr. Murphy completed his residencies in San Antonio at the UT Medical School and was Chief Resident at the Audie Murphy Veterans Hospital and Bexar County Hospital. Immediately after he completed his residency, he was appointed as Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology/Pain Medicine at Guadalupe Valley Hospital in Seguin, Texas.

He is currently Medical Director at North Central Methodist Ambulatory Surgery Center in San Antonio. Dr. Murphy’s publications include “Induced Hypothermia,” published in Decision Making in Anesthesiology in 1997.

Dr. Murphy is of Diplomate of both the American Board of Pain Medicine and the American Society of Anesthesiology with subspecialty certification in Pain Management. He is professionally affiliated with the Bexar County Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, American Board of Pain Medicine, International Spinal Intervention Society and Texas Pain Society.
